Resident Evil 7 is due to hit the Nintendo Switch eShop this week in Japan in its full form with all four DLC packs previously released on console and PC. The game will be playable in both docked and handheld modes.
No word as yet whether the game will make it to US or EU shores.
This is the sticky point. The game is only playable via the cloud and as such will require a fast, stable internet connection to play. On top of this players will be required, after the first fifteen minutes of free gameplay, to purchase a 180 day service pass if they wish to continue playing. Price for the pass is currently set at ¥2,000, which roughly translates to $18.00 or £13.50.
Here at Triple N we’re not sure we like the idea of subscription passes or cloud gaming, at least not until it’s improved enough so the gaming experience is on a par with on console gaming.
